In order to promote the exchange of experiences and reflections on South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) will hold a webinar on 6 November 2025 entitled Towards the XXXIII Meeting of International Cooperation Directors: opportunities and challenges for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The event, which will serve as a prelude to the XXIII Meeting of Directors in 2026, aims to encourage the exchange of ideas, experiences and best practices in areas of relevance to the cooperation agenda. It also seeks to disseminate and exchange experiences applicable to SSTC and Circular Economy projects, as well as to identify institutional frameworks and guiding principles that contribute to accelerating the adoption of the Circular Economy and strengthening alignment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals and National Development Programmes.

The webinar will feature the participation of those responsible for international cooperation in El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, as well as special presentations by representatives of German Technical Cooperation (GIZ) and the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), who will share an updated overview of the activities, priorities, and challenges of their respective areas in the field of SSTC.

This space for dialogue will enable the identification of opportunities to strengthen institutional capacities and improve mechanisms for measuring, assessing and evaluating cooperation, in line with the sustainable development goals and national strategies of the participating countries. Those interested in participating can do so via the following registration link: https://sela.org/agenda/rumbo-a-la-xxxiii-reunion-de-directores-de-cooperacion-internacional-oportunidades-y-desafios-para-america-latina-y-el-caribe/

Through this initiative, SELA reiterates the importance of the Meeting of Directors as a consolidated platform for regional dialogue, which for more than three decades has promoted the exchange of ideas, experiences and best practices in the areas of cooperation and development assistance. This work has made it possible to identify agencies and regional, subregional and national counterparts responsible for international cooperation policies, strengthening technical and political coordination among the countries of the region. This approach responds to the interest of Member States in linking cooperation with environmental and productive sustainability, contributing to the transition towards more resilient and sustainable development models.

The webinar “Towards the XXXIII Meeting of International Cooperation Directors” will be held via Zoom and is aimed at international cooperation directors from Latin America and the Caribbean, cooperation agencies, specialists and researchers in the field of science, technology, innovation and the circular economy.
