ALBA – TCP reiterates willingness to work together with SELA

The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the Americas - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Félix Plasencia, participated in the XLIX Regular Meeting of the Latin American Council of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), where he
reiterated his willingness to maintain a joint work agenda to further advance towards the integration of the region.
“SELA is doing a particularly important job. I would like to congratulate Ambassador Endara and express my gratitude for his efforts to integrate the various platforms of our region and for SELA's efforts and leadership to agree on issues that concern us and improve our efficiency towards our Member States,” the Executive Secretary of ALBA – TCP said.
He also reiterated the commitment to develop a work agenda and move forward in synergy towards the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The XLIX Regular Meeting of the Latin American Council was held at the headquarters of the organisation, in Caracas, with the virtual and face-to-face participation of all its Member States.
The Latin American Council is the highest decision-making body of SELA and is made up of one representative of each Member State. Its attributions include considering, evaluating and approving: the work programme for the following year; the annual report submitted by the Permanent Secretariat; the budget and financial status of the mechanism, as well as examining the activities of the Permanent Secretariat and the Action Committees.
In its 48 years of uninterrupted work, SELA has become a regional organisation of reference, conducting consultation and coordination, cooperation and joint economic and social promotion tasks, of a permanent nature, with international legal personality, before countries, groups of nations, forums and international organisations.
