The Executive Vice-President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, stressed that the path of integration is the path to development, which is why it is urgent to resume the historic path of integration of Latin America and the Caribbean, because “the more integration, the more economic development in the region.”
In her participation in the Forum on “Regional integration, perspectives and experiences of Latin America and the Caribbean,” held in Caracas at the headquarters of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), the Vice-President of Venezuela stressed that the region's economic matrix has not diversified production and there is no development of productive activity, which is why it is necessary to correct it in order to move towards integration.
“We should have uniform and effective policies for trade in the region. We export to other regions, but we do not export intra-regionally (...) We only lack the political will to move forward on the historic path of integration. Our message is one of unity. Here are the Venezuelan people overcoming and resisting,” Delcy Rodríguez pointed out.
The Forum on “Regional integration, perspectives and experiences of Latin America and the Caribbean” was organized within the framework of the XLVIII Regular Meeting of the Latin American Council of SELA and was moderated by the Ambassador of Argentina in Venezuela, Óscar Laborde, with the purpose of analysing and contextualizing the challenges of integration for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
