SELA welcomes appointment of new Foreign Minister of Panama

The Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), Ambassador Clarems Endara, welcomes the appointment of Janaina Tewaney Mencomo as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama and reiterates his commitment to continue promoting actions in favour of more and better integration for the benefit of the region.
Panama announced on Monday the appointment of Janaina Tewaney Mencomo as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, replacing Erika Mouynes, who held the post since December 2020.
A statement released by the Panamanian Presidency details that the new foreign minister is 38 years old, speaks English, French and Hindi. She holds a degree in Law and Political Science with a Master's degree in International Public Law from the Free University of Brussels and in Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Resolution Law from the University of Hong Kong.
