Ernesto Samper highlights SELA's work for regional integration

The former President of Colombia, Ernesto Samper, received in Bogotá the Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), Ambassador Clarems Endara, to whom he reiterated his support to the organisation's multi-year Work Programme and stressed the urgency of promoting integration.
In this connection, Ernesto Samper stressed the importance of coordinated work and convergence among regional integration organisations, so as not to duplicate tasks and to achieve efficient results in the development of the region
The former Colombian president called for increasing regional support for the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), in order to empower the regional organisation and develop sectoral agendas internally, as well as for reactivating the Union of South American Nations and achieving coordination with the rest of the subregional mechanisms, with the aim of advancing towards the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean.
