On Thursday 30 July at 11:00 am (Caracas time), the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) will hold a virtual seminar on “Organizational Resilience for SMEs in times of pandemic: Practical recommendations for the protection of businesses”. The event will count on the participation of three Latin American experts, who will exchange their experiences on how private organizations have responded to the various problems that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused in the business sector.
María Elisa Padilla, Head of Business Continuity and Incident Management at Banco Itaú in Argentina; Germán Vargas, International Consultant in Technological and Business Best Practices at Claro Colombia, and Yves Dávila, Executive Director of Protiviti in Peru and consultant for South America in Business Continuity Management, will present their experiences and recommendations to protect enterprises and ensure business operations of SMEs vis-à-vis the new scenarios imposed by the pandemic.
The speakers will focus on the priority problems faced by small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs. Then, they will make recommendations on organizational resilience and how such recommendations should be implemented in order to provide a comprehensive response to the crisis caused by the coronavirus in the region.
This is the first Webinar of a cycle being organized by SELA with the purpose of providing tools to improve the direction, management, control and results of SMEs and MSMEs, especially in situations of crisis and uncertainty. Since 2010, the Permanent Secretariat has been working on the issue of forging Public-Private Partnerships for disaster risk reduction in order to prepare this productive sector to confront calamity situations.
