SELA ORGANIZES SEMINAR ON OPPORTUNITIES FOR COOPERATION
The “Seminar on opportunities for international cooperation for Latin America and the Caribbean: Towards greater strengthening of regional cooperation”, organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) and the Government of Panama, will be held on 09 November in the capital of this Central American country.
This meeting aims to identify the main initiatives on the subject, in order to support its Member States in complying with their development priorities.
International cooperation, official development assistance and South-South Cooperation provide substantial resources that complement national budgets to promote development.
Conscious of promoting official development assistance as set forth in the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations, SELA will bring together government authorities from Latin America and the Caribbean and representatives of international and subregional organizations, who are expected to stress the need of reaching the goal of contributing 0.7% of GDP to official development assistance.
The opening session will be attended by the Permanent Secretary of SELA, Ambassador Javier Paulinich, and the Director-General for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama, Selina Baños.
