SELA to hold Workshop on the Public Policy Index for MSMEs in Bogotá

Promoting optimization of government programmes for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the member countries of the Pacific Alliance, as well as Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay, is a first-order issue for this organisation

The Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), CAF-development bank of Latin America and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, will conduct the “Subregional Workshop to validate the results of the Public Policy Index for MSMEs in Latin America and the Caribbean (IPPALC): Pacific Alliance, Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay” in Bogotá, Colombia, on 16 and 17 July 2018.

The IPPALC is a conceptual and methodological adaptation by the Permanent Secretariat of SELA of the Public Policy Index created and implemented by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

This tool is designed to evaluate and monitor the action taken by the governments of the region and to encourage the economic dynamism of MSMEs, thus enabling the evaluation of decision-making processes in a context of comparability of results among countries and facilitating the exchange of experiences and best practices.

After three years of continuous efforts, this important event will be held as the final stage of the implementation of the index in the Member States of the Pacific Alliance (Peru, Mexico, Chile and Colombia), along with Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay, in order to materialize its publication, scheduled to take place at the beginning of 2019.
