SELA attends VI Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Cartagena
SELA considers it of the utmost importance to follow up on the Sendai Framework action plan in Latin America and the Caribbean to reduce death, destruction and displacement caused by natural phenomena by 2030
By invitation of the Government of Colombia as the host country, in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UN/ISDR), the Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) attends the event to exchange experiences with governments, the private sector, civil society and other regional organizations specializing in disaster risk reduction in the Americas.
The VI Regional Platform “Towards a less vulnerable region with more resilient communities” represents an opportunity for SELA to continue to push forward the implementation of actions referred to in the Sendai Framework and the VII Meeting “Public-Private Partnerships for Disaster Risk Reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean”.
From 20 to 22 June, efforts can be made to interact and strengthen working partnerships and to share experiences with a view to achieving the seven global goals laid out in the action plan for the next two years in the region, an important aspect of the Work Programme of SELA.
