The Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), Ambassador Lesly David, held a meeting with the Minister of Economy and Planning of Cuba, Joaquín Vásquez.
At this meeting, both representatives reaffirmed their commitment to further working together to mitigate the barriers that slow down Latin American and Caribbean integration.
During the meeting, the Permanent Secretary referred to the importance of continuing to develop activities aimed at promoting food security, mitigating the effects of climate change, facilitating trade, with an emphasis on improving port connectivity and operability, and productive coordination. For his part, Minister Vásquez noted the importance of intra-regional cooperation and highlighted Cuba’s capabilities in the provision of science and technology-related services.
This meeting forms part of SELA’s agenda, which promotes economic and social development in the region.
