SELA presents its Directory of Cultural and Creative Industries

The Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) presents the Directory of Cultural and Creative Industries (DICC) in Latin America and the Caribbean, an innovative project that gathers detailed information on more than 1,600 institutions and public and private actors linked to this productive sector in order to promote their coordination.

The Directory of Cultural and Creative Industries offers a unified structure of the wealth of cultural and creative industries in 29 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. It aims to assist in the identification, contact, association and joint growth of producers of goods and service providers, public or private, participating in the value chain in the area of art and the creation of cultural impact.

Within the creative economy, the cultural and creative industries play a crucial role. This constantly evolving concept includes all sectors that are based on activities implying the interaction of human creativity, ideas, intellectual property, knowledge and technology.

According to UN resolution 74/198, the creative economy is essential for developing countries to expand their production and exports, fostering sustainable, inclusive and equitable development.

With 1,645 registered cultural and creative industries, the SELA Directory provides a comprehensive guide to the most prominent players in fields such as: Art and Culture Schools, Publishing Houses, Film Producers Show Producers, Theatre, Dance and Circus Companies, Software Producers, Artisans, Festivals and Fairs from 29 countries in the region.

The Directory of Cultural and Creative Industries is part of SELA’s Work Programme for 2022-2026, specifically the SMEs programme, which focuses on formulating public policies to promote productive sectors, strengthen business models and develop new markets for the regional SME business ecosystem.
