SELA opens vacancies for the international positions of area coordinators

The Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) has opened the vacancies for the positions of Coordinator of Economic Recovery and Coordinator of International Relations, with the purpose of hiring high-level professionals to promote the implementation of the Work Programme for 2022-2026 at its headquarters in Caracas.

The evaluation of applications and the selection of candidates will take place from 14 to 18 February, after which those chosen will be notified between 21 and 25 February for a start date of 10 March 2022.

The Coordinator of Economic Recovery is required to be a professional from any of SELA Member States, with a university degree in political sciences, international relations and/or a related career, with a master’s degree or specialization in the areas of economics, public policies, quantitative methods and international economics.

This professional must have a minimum work experience of 10 years in areas such as trade, logistics, productivity and economic integration, with a good command of databases and statistical programming packages such as Stata, R or Python and proficiency in English, advanced level preferably.

The objective of this position is to develop, supervise and manage the projects of the Work Programme corresponding to the area under his/her responsibility, based on the Decisions of the Latin American Council and the guidelines provided by the Permanent Secretary, specifically those related to the thematic axis of Economic Recovery, which point to goals, whose fulfilment is based on specific objectives defined in a series of programmes that in turn are constituted by annual activities.

On the other hand, the Coordinator of International Relations must be a professional from any of SELA Member States, with a university degree in international relations, economic sciences, political sciences and/or a related career, with a master’s degree or specialization in international relations, economic integration, cooperation, planning, public policies and international economic negotiation.

This professional must have a minimum work experience of 10 years, proven leadership capacities, strategic thinking, planning, management and project design and implementation, and ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally.

This position requires knowledge of and interrelation with the region’s integration mechanisms and the ability to establish relations with institutions and governments to promote cooperation agreements. An advanced level of English is indispensable.

This professional will manage and coordinate international and inter-institutional relations and international cooperation, planning and promoting agreements in order to ensure the liaison of the Institution with organizations and institutions of the member countries and international organizations, in accordance with the Decisions of the Latin American Council, the Work Programme and the guidelines provided by the Permanent Secretary.
