This Regional Meeting will focus on reviewing the contributions of Single Windows in the context of the recent WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation and the trade integration mechanisms in Latin America and the Caribbean, highlighting the strategic role of these tools to increase intra-regional trade and create favourable conditions for a competitive insertion of the region’s countries into the global economy.
As a complement, participants will review the progress made in the UN/CEFACT Single Window Interoperability Project; analyze the interoperability between International Trade Single Windows and Port Single Windows; and discuss and disseminate achievements made by Single Windows in Latin America and the Caribbean over the past year.
The Permanent Secretariat of SELA has promoted these annual regional meetings with the purpose of providing a space for encounter and coordination to encourage regional dialogue through an exchange of successful experiences and relevant information on issues related to International Trade Single Windows (regulatory, technical, technological and governance elements), as well as on the progress made in the region in terms of Single Windows. The ultimate goal is to contribute to their development and consolidation, within the framework of regional and digital integration processes in Latin America and the Caribbean.
