Caracas, August 5, 2014.- The Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), Ambassador Roberto Guarnieri, and the staff of this institution express their deepest sorrow over the passing of Ambassador Otto Boye Soto, who was Permanent Secretary of SELA.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and to the Government and people of Chile, where Ambassador Boye was born and developed a remarkable career in the fields of law, diplomacy, journalism and political culture.
In Venezuela, he was at the helm of the Chilean Embassy, concurrent in Trinidad and Tobago. He left a trail of good memories and examples of the great friendship between Venezuela and Chile, the nation that welcomed Andrés Bello.
During his tenure as Permanent Secretary of SELA, Ambassador Boye maintained the principles and values that give life to this organization, a pioneer of Latin American and Caribbean integration.
