OAS and CARICOM IMPACS Sign Agreement on Security Cooperation

Washington, August 5, 2014.- The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Caribbean Community Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (CARICOM IMPACS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the 28th of July to promote and facilitate cooperation and collaboration aimed at advancing regional security.
Signing on behalf of the OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza was the OAS Secretary for Multidimensional Security, Adam Blackwell, and on behalf of CARICOM IMPACS was Francis Forbes, Executive Director of CARICOM IMPACS.
The agreement aims to promote and facilitate human resources capacity development within the area of security and to support the security needs of Caribbean member states through the adoption of a flexible, collaborative relationship between the organizations. The document also establishes mechanisms for enhanced coordination between the Secretariat for Multidimensional Security of the OAS and CARICOM IMPACS and for the development and execution of joint programs and projects.
