Mexico City, March 27- The city of Merida, Mexico will be playing host to the upcoming Sixth Summit of Heads of State and/or Government of the Association of Caribbean States.
The summit, which will begin on April 30, will include an address by Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and Mexican Nobel Prize winner Mario Molina, among others.
The government of Mexico will present on “New Initiatives For the Benefit of the Caribbean,” and will hold a dialogue on that topic, according to the ACS.
April’s conference follows the ACS’ last summit, which was held in Petion-Ville, Haiti.
Mexico has been looking to deepen its ties with its neighbours in the Caribbean basin in recent years, most notably at the 2012 CARICOM-Mexico summit.
The convention will be held at the Yucatan Siglo XXI Convention Centre.
