The 6th meeting of the European Migration Forum will take place online on 27-28 October 2021, having been previously cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The topic of this year's edition is From pandemic to recovery: challenges and best practices in migration management.
The forum is a platform for dialogue between civil society and the European institutions on issues relating to migration, asylum and the integration of third-country nationals (TCNs), and is run by the European Commission (EC) and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).
This edition of the forum will focus on the indispensable role and value of migrants working in sectors that have been instrumental in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, and whose contribution to smooth economic recovery will be essential. Specific focuses will include the ways in which the pandemic has impacted migrants' lives and rights; how to close the digital divide and digital disadvantage of migrants; good practices and initiatives fostering access to education for migrant children; safe legal pathways for those in need of international protection and how to maximise their integration in hosting societies.
Expressions of interest in participation in the event can be submitted until 20 August 2020. Find further information on this here.
