Washington, March 25- The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met with the Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Alfonso Múnera Cavadía, with whom he discussed how to build a more active and dynamic partnership between the OAS and the ACS, based on the programs and initiatives in which both organizations have the potential to work more effectively.
At the meeting held at the OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, both leaders commented on the importance of taking a step forward in the joint work carried out and expanding the coordinated efforts on issues such as migration, sustainable development, education, culture, and tourism security. In this regard, they agreed to hold an inter-institutional meeting with experts of each institution in order to establish lines of action for such cooperation.
During the meeting, Secretary General Múnera spoke of the content and expectations of the VI Summit of Heads of State and/or Government of the Association of Caribbean States to take place on April 30, in Mexico, and to which Secretary General Insulza has been invited.
