During the 77th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), resolution A/77/L.22 was proposed, which establishes a mechanism for coordination and cooperation between the UN and the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA).
The Permanent Secretary of SELA, Ambassador Clarems Endara, welcomed the approval of the Resolution on Cooperation between the United Nations and SELA, submitted at the initiative of the Permanent Representative of the Plurinational State of Bolivia to the UN, Diego Pary RodrÃguez.
For its part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia thanked the Member States of the United Nations for their support to Bolivia during the approval of Resolution A/77/L.22, which was unanimously adopted on 7 December 2022 by its members.
This resolution allows SELA and the UN to strengthen their ties with specialized agencies in order to respond to the needs of Latin America and the Caribbean, in favour of the fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals and the integration of the region.
SELA is an intergovernmental regional organisation, established in 1975 with the aim of promoting a system of consultation and coordination for the Latin American and Caribbean region to adopt common positions and strategies on economic issues before countries, groups of countries, forums, and international organisations, and fostering cooperation for the development of the region.
