During his participation as a speaker at the International Tourism Fair of Venezuela 2022 (Fitven), the Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), Ambassador Clarems Endara, stressed the importance of rethinking tourism in the region to make progress in economic recovery and sustainable development.
The Permanent Secretary underscored that SELA's Work Programme for 2022-2026 focuses on productive coordination as part of the strategy for economic recovery of countries, especially through tourism, which was one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic.
He also explained that tourism plays a key role, and it is necessary to rethink services. To that end, it is important to build a regional directory of industries of cultural goods and services, a project that SELA is currently working on through programmes aimed at economic integration, trade facilitation and SMEs.
The XV edition of Fitven will be attended by 230 tour operators, 14 nations and nine diplomatic representations, with the Russian Federation as the guest country, and 23 symposiums and more than 300 business meetings will be held.
