The Permanent Secretary of SELA, Ambassador Clarems Endara, met with the Acting Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Mario Cimoli, in order to make some headway in the renewal of the agreement with SELA and strengthen the institutional will of continuing to work together for the integration of the region.
During the meeting, Ambassador Clarems Endara reviewed SELA's Work Programme for the coming months, which addresses the three areas of work of the organisation: Social Development, Economic Recovery, and Digitalisation.
“The objective is to strengthen the coordination between both organisations in order to coordinate joint work and cooperation on integration and social development issues for the region,” the Permanent Secretary of SELA said.
For his part, the Acting Executive Secretary of ECLAC reiterated his support for SELA’s efforts to advance a joint agenda for the benefit of the region. “It is very important for us to revive the agreement with SELA, to renew the agreement with a much more effective criterion for action,” he said.
SELA and ECLAC maintain historical technical and institutional cooperation ties for the development of cooperation and collaboration activities among officials, specialists, and consultants to advance sustainable development in the region.
