The Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), Ambassador Clarems Endara, expresses his solidarity with Cuba in view of the fire in the crude oil deposits in Matanzas (western Cuba), which has left one person dead, more than a hundred injured and at least 16 missing
The fire started on Friday night and spread throughout the weekend, despite the invaluable work of rescue teams, firefighters, specialists and the support of international teams, who have arrived to help in the extinguishing and support tasks in the area of the incident.
Cuba has been a Member State of SELA since 1976 and has always maintained a cooperative relationship, so the Permanent Secretary expresses his solidarity with Cuba and trusts that the fire will soon be put out and the unfortunate tragedy will be overcome.
