During the opening of the VI Latin American and Caribbean Meeting of Logistic Port Communities, Antonio Silveira, Manager of Physical Infrastructure and Digital Transformation at CAF-development bank of Latin America, highlighted the importance of supporting initiatives for the integration of the port network, as a programme that “has yielded interesting results and is a path for the evolution of the necessary network of ports.”
Antonio Silveira underlined that CAF's mission is to promote sustainable development and regional integration. Therefore, “this activity is a very important example of an alliance that helps leverage integration in the region,” he pointed out.
“We are actively working to give the port network a personality and define a strategy for the full institutionalization of the network,” he added
The authority of CAF-development bank of Latin America underlined that they remain very attentive “to the process of achieving the necessary level of maturity for the network to maintain a permanent character and to define lines of work to advance towards this goal.”
He maintains that a port network in the region represents “a platform for the exchange of experiences and best practices to leverage the efficiency and management of the logistics communities with their different aspects with a special focus on digitalization, which is an increasingly important challenge to strengthen the regional capacity to compete,” he pointed out.
The VI Meeting of Logistic Port Communities is being held in Panama from 16 to 18 March, under the auspices of the Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), CAF-development bank of Latin America and the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP).
