The implementation of the second edition of the Public Policy Index for MSMEs in Latin America and the Caribbean (IPPALC) began in June 2020, when the launch event for this new cycle of the project was held in Montevideo, Uruguay, with the participation of ten countries in the region.
On that occasion, the national coordinators of IPPALC of Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Peru, which make up the Pacific Alliance, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay, together with representatives of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), CAF-development bank of Latin America, and the Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), leading organizations of the project, achieved the objectives set: i) to present the new virtual platform for accessing the assessment questionnaire; ii) to discuss and approve the dimensions of analysis for the second edition; iii) to evaluate the contents of the new questionnaire; and, iv) to present and approve the work schedule.
Subsequently, between May and June of this year, national workshops were held virtually (one per participating country) to discuss and validate the information gathered in the questionnaire concerning the treatment of national public policies for MSMEs that was circulated after the launch meeting.
According to the schedule, the “Workshop on validation of scores of the Public Policy Index for MSMEs in Latin America and the Caribbean (IPPALC)” will allow for presenting and justifying the preliminary results obtained by the countries in each dimension of the Index and for generating an exchange of opinions among the national coordinators in order to clarify the scores and subsequent analyses.
To present, discuss and validate the scores obtained for the dimensions and sub-dimensions of the IPPALC, as well as the preliminary conclusions generated for each of the ten participating countries.
This activity is aimed at governmental focal points for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises of the Pacific Alliance Member States, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, regional and international organisations.
