SELA and OAS organise virtual seminar on women in maritime and port security

The Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) and the Organization of American States (OAS), through the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE), are organising the "Virtual Seminar on women in maritime and port security", to be held on 16 and 17 May 2024.

The activity aims to identify and explore the factors that contribute to, perpetuate and cause gender inequality in the maritime and port sector; and to promote the empowerment and leadership of female personnel in the maritime security industry.

The "Virtual Seminar on women in maritime and port security" is intended to raise awareness of the challenges affecting women's participation in the maritime and port sector; as well as to share lessons learned, best practices, policies and procedures that promote recruitment and growth opportunities for women in the maritime and port sector.

The event will take place on 16 and 17 May, virtually and free of charge, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm (Venezuela time). Those interested in participating can register through the following link: https://bit.ly/49BOpxN

With the collaboration of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the Women's Maritime Association in the Caribbean (WiMAC) and the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA), SELA and the OAS aim to convene women leaders in the maritime, port and logistics sector for solution-oriented discussions to achieve gender equality and equity in the industry.
